The world from my balcony

“Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.” — Dr. Seuss

View from another balcony (friend’s home in the hills, Pangot). Another place where my soul feels alive and at home.

As a habit, am out of bed by 5.30 am, even on a Sunday! I have an hour or so until its time to wake up dear hubby. So this part of the day is totally dedicated to myself. During this time my soul is home, taking in nature’s bounty – the birds, the breeze, the sunrise and the quietude. This is the time that I rejuvenate myself, live purely for myself. I call it ‘me time’. Everyone must carve out some time purely for themselves, even if it means doing nothing but sitting in silence. Its challenging for sure, but that’s what we all are destined to learn to do. I am blessed that I am able to make time for myself and soak in nature’s beauty around.

“Stop every now and then. Just stop and enjoy. Take a deep breath.
Relax and take in the abundance of life.”

This precious time is spent at the balcony, not just in lockdown but otherwise too. The balcony is positioned such that I can experience both sunrise and sunset. There is a red cotton silk tree or semal tree visible from there and during spring it was a birds’ cafeteria , much to my delight. The sky view is more or less adequate to watch out for flyover aves, though the buildings and wires are a big challenge to photographing them especially sans telephoto lens and the short view range.

Let me take you all through a pictorial tour of “the world from my balcony

Someday, you will find the one who will watch every sunrise with you until the sunset of your life.

The sky is an infinite movie to me. I never get tired of looking at what’s happening up there.”

Breeze blowing the wind chime, the feel of sun on your face, sit quietly…….Just Be.”

In order to see birds it is necessary to become part of the silence. “

The slow & steady flight of the Indian Pond Herons & Cattle Egrets

The screeching & playful Parakeets

The flighty, teeny, weeny, shiny Purple Sunbird (M)

Surprise visit by India’s National Bird, The Indian Peafowl or Peacock (M)

Never, ever stop having fun with your gang

The childrens’ park is now a play ground for these buddies.

“You here again, M?”, asked the Indian palm squirrel or three-striped palm squirrel

Remember, we are madly in love, so it’s all right to kiss me any time you feel like it.”

“Learning how to be still, to really be still and let life happen — that stillness becomes a radiance.”

Common Mynah on a mission to build its home

Somewhere life has just begun……. Rock Pigeon chicks

Butterflies are God’s confetti, thrown upon the Earth in celebration of his love.”

Swallowtail & maybe a Pine White, captured while in flight from much distance

I must have flowers, always, and always.”

The blooms from my balcony garden (over a period of time)

There is nothing more magical than a sunset.”

“Drag me to the moon, to catch a star and seize its brilliance as I’m swept up in amorphous dust.”

“The goal is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe,
to match your nature with nature.”

  2. Monica, these ‘Me-times’ are the best part of everyday life. It definitely helps to rejuvenate you in every way. I loved the post and especially the four-legged buddies in their playful mood and the squirrel having a good stretch in the morning. 🙂 And again I am in love with your garden.

    • You are right Sarmistha. One has to work out that bit for self even if it is for just 10 mins. The dogs are very happy with the park to themselves. two of them are dot on time every morning for the time of their life hahahhahaa. I love flowers and try to have as many as the balcony space allows. Hope things are now relaxed at your end under this Covid scare.

      • Thanks for you concern Monica, here strict regulations are maintained within the containment zones while in the non containment zone it is much more relaxed, many offices have started functioning so do some stores. Yeah, its a big relief to be able to get out of the house 🙂
What is the scenario in your place?

      • I guess we are sailing in the same boat. Jams have started on the road 😁😁 I really don’t know if opening up is wise or not. While it is important to develop the herd immunity, the increase in effected numbers will shoot dramatically.

Life needs to get back on the track though for days to come it’s going to full of restraints and caution.

Hope the world heals soon ✨🙏🏻✨🙏🏻✨

  4. I too like to get up before anyone else is around. I don’t do anything specially meditative or interesting but find I am content to do house-work style things before the day properly begins. They seem less boring and irritating that way.

    • Oh great! Yes many use that quite time with no interference to do their work. I too do that on days which are heavy with additional household work. They get accomplished much faster 😁😁 don’t they?

  7. I liked to find out that we have similar habits. And I wake up in the morning, around 6, and I enjoy the rustle of the wind and the chirping of the birds in the garden.
Your photos are exceptionally beautiful, I would really be sorry not to see them on my blog visitors. So I’ll add your link to the table.
    Have a good day, Monika!

  8. Such gorgeous views. Ones that left me bowled over and totally mesmerised.

It’s so important to have that hour to oneself. Ideal way to start the day. And try and do so myself, but sometimes the kids like to smother me with hugs and just hang around. 🙂

I love how deftly you write these quotes, Monika that wonderfully capture the essence of your pictures.

I loved this photo essay. Added so much colour to my day.

Keep sharing these wondrous moments with us on #WW.

Have a fabulous week ahead and be blessed always.

    Happy tidings!

    • Thanks Natasha. Like I said its a blessing. Makes my lockdown easy peasy 🙂 Though the sun & its heat is getting stronger now……..

We must all strive to take out some time even 10-15 mins just for ourselves.

The kids in cuddly mode are a good stress buster too

And “the match between our heartbeat and the beat of the universe” must be the goal of each day of our life. Would be an amazing journey!

    • Thanks Deeksha. Blessings in disguise ✨ sometimes I think that there is so much beauty and joy that nature offers for free and in abundance, yet most of us are oblivious to it. Hope all is good at your end 💖

      • This mall culture has completely ruined humans. People have forgotten to look at the starry night, or the crimson sky in the evening. And now we are confined within the walls of our hous.
Thing are better now. Apoorva is better. Alternatively husband has started going to office. I hope positive atmosphere will be in the air soon.
        How are you doing…

      • Good to hear about Apoorva. We are good Deeksha. My husband has been working from home from day 1 of lockdown and the same continues as of now.

Yes, keeping fingers crossed for good times to be back again soon but with a sensitive heart towards nature.
