Driving through a countryside

I WANT TO GO ON A ROAD TRIP. JUST YOU AND ME. THE HIGHWAY, THE RADIO, THE BLUE SKY, THE BACK ROADS, AND WINDOWS DOWN. WE’LL TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING AND NOTHING. WE’LL SING OUR HEARTS OUT, AND WE’LL MAKE MEMORIES WE’LL NEVER FORGET. JUST YOU AND ME.”

The never ending ‘green’ road.

This post is all about reliving a countryside drive, through a series of photos. We had driven to Rankini mata mandir a few kilometres away from Jadugoda, a small township of Uranium Corporation of India in the state of Jharkhand and about 35 kms by road from the steel city, Jamshedpur.

You can see the Jadugoda-Musabani hill range through out the drive

The roads were super smooth and clean. Lined throughout with green trees and colorful village huts. The drive also offered a view of the scenic beauty of the surrounding Jadugoda-Musabani hill range.

Enroute the temple, a little ahead of Jadugoda

If country life is healthful to the body, it is no less so to the mind.”

The place is blessed with nature’s abundance

The village huts attracted me a lot with their bright colors and pretty designs. The designs are predominantly made by someone from the household. Another striking feature was the cleanliness throughout the road trip.

The finesse and sense of proportion is amazing
Simple & Pretty.

The country life is to be preferred, for there we see the works of God, but in cities little else but the works of men. And the one makes a better subject for contemplation than the other.

The artist (lady of the house) and her art work.
Isn’t it pretty?

The fresh and crisp air of the country reminds us that our blood surges from of the natural world and how tied we are to the sprung rhythms of earth and sky, weather and season.”

Every hut has a sit out just outside the main door. I really like the concept.
Interesting use of CDs and mirror like deco pieces. Born artists.

My hubs and I enjoyed this drive to Ma Rankini mandir. We had started early in the morning to avoid the rush at the outskirts of the town before we hit the highway.

The temple is surrounded by woods and situated on an extremely busy highway
Small but powerful, the temple of Ma Rankini

Rankini Mata, a highly revered local deity, is worshiped as an incarnate of Goddess Kali. This is one of the ancient and important pilgrimage sites of the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.

Jadugoda is also home to some indigenous tribes like the Santhals, Gonds, Mundas and the nomadic Hill Kharia. The culture of the place is influenced by the culture of it’s neighboring states viz; West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar.

The country is lyric, the town dramatic. When mingled, they make the perfect musical drama.”

The small & cute Post Office
Hand-pumps are a common sight in countryside

Nor rural sights alone, but rural sounds,
Exhilarate the spirit, and restore the tone of languid nature.

Plenty of Painted Jezebel were seen flitting around
Colocasia plant, a popular vegetable there & in neighboring states

In cities no one is quiet but many are lonely; in the country, people are quiet but few are lonely

Bottle gourd growing atop a hut

Country life has its advantages…You sit on the veranda drinking tea and your ducklings swim on the pond, and everything smells good…

“This pure air braces the listless nerves, and warms the blood. I feel in freedom here”

The city reveals the moral ends of being and sets the awful problem of life. The country soothes us, refreshes us, lifts us up with religious suggestion.”

  1. Beautiful journey.. Loved the way you described it, interspersed with beautiful and apt pictures you clicked along the way.. I like Jamshedpur.. Though I haven’t visited Jadugoda because of it’s proximity to the Uranium mines.
Thank you Madam for sharing.. 🙂 🙂
    Stay safe..

  2. Beautiful post. It took me back by 15-20 years, when I used to stay in Jamshedpur and have visited this temple a couple of times. Just adding to your post on the villages of Jadugoda. There are uranium mines in Jadugoda and the Head Office of the Uranium Corporation of India is located there. Thanks for making me a bit nostalgic.

  3. I try again a comment. Strange, but it vanished and it was so elaborate… 🙂
I like the photos presented. I can not imagine the real atmosphere from a temple, but they look so special. May be is not the proper word, but around them there is something special. Perhaps a special vibe…
“In cities no one is quiet but many are lonely; in the country, people are quiet but few are lonely“. A perfect idea in our days. I think the difference between cities and countries is the connection with nature and Universe. Inside this connection we can not be lonely.
Thank you, Monika for this post. I imagine going on your roads! There are quite beautiful!
Wishing you a lovely weekend! 🙂

    • I did find your comment in the spam 🙂

Temples have very powerful divine energies. That’s what calms people and they feel blessed.

The abundance of nature unaltered by man and the faith that nature has all the answers is what sets the tone of the countryside.Like you rightly said “difference between cities and countries is the connection with nature and Universe Inside this connection we can not be lonely.”

I am happy you could connect with the post …… Have a blissful week ahead Suzana 💙

  5. “In cities no one is quiet but many are lonely; in the country, people are quiet but few are lonely“
I like how you phrased these two ideas. I suppose that in the country there is a stronger connection with the Nature and the Universe, almost lost or diluted in the cities.
The photos are very impressive and I suppose representative for that special place. And I can not imagine the Spirit of these kind of temples. But they have a special beauty for outsiders.
The butterfly is amazing and the freedom around those roads has a lot of fresh air!
Thank you, Monika for the post! Wishing you a lovely week! 🙂
