Birding: Indian Silverbill

Standard

“Watching birds has become part of my daily meditation affirming my connection to the earth body.”

A beautiful pair of Indian Silverbills clicked from my home’s balcony (02.10.2020)

A few days before I saw them from my balcony for the first time, I had come across the sweetest pair of Indian Silverbills in a nursery. The following photos are from there

Indian Silver Bill | White-Throated Munia | Lonchura Malabarica
I was thrilled with this chance encounter with these passerine recently
Unfortunately I was not carrying my camera; the mobile was my only resource
These two stuck together oblivious to the world around
Clean water available for them — for drinking & splashing

Do you love me because I’m beautiful, or am I beautiful because you love me?

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.
The eyes give away if you are in love
Courtship ritual — allopreening

When I had sighted these beauties and shared a photo post on them in the beginning of August; I had wished for sighting these sweethearts from my balcony.

“Well miracles happen if you believe in their magical ways.”

Within a week I spotted them while bird watching from my balcony, and how! Carrying nesting material, which means they had decided to home near mine.

The first time I saw the pretty Indian Silverbills from my balcony (12.08.2020)
Say hello to us from your balcony!

“Birds have wings; they’re free; they can fly where they want when they want. They have the kind of mobility many people envy.”

Caught in flight
The first time I saw them was in the Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Delhi

  1. Dear Monika,

Love Munia’s and these captures are outstanding.

As are the phone shots! It’s interesting to see what an avid birder you are.

We managed to see the Indian Pitta, as you would have seen in my earlier posts. What a beauty and it had a paparazzi of birders chasing it.

We’ve had some lovely sightings this weekend too. Still learning birding as a hobby, and I’m so glad about it. Your pictures add to the knowledge bank.

    • Hi Natasha, the Indian Pitta is a beauty and you are lucky that you saw them (I did go through your post last week).

Hope to see more pictures of your latest sightings.

So that makes two of us ….. learning about birds. Its deeply satisfying as it keeps one connected to nature. I need to learn all about the camera gears too.

Thank you so much Natasha for pumping in so much enthusiasm through your sweet notes of appreciation 💓💗
